This Privacy Policy describes how cirrca (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our iOS application and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

Summary: cirrca helps you track sleep and daytime energy. Account and log data are stored on our servers so you can sign in across devices. Optional microphone-based sleep tracking analyzes audio on your device; we do not upload or store raw audio recordings on our servers. cirrca is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice.

1. Who we are

The cirrca app is operated by the developer of cirrca. For privacy questions or requests, contact us at support@cirrca.app.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect the following:

2.1 Account information

Email address
Username
Password (stored in hashed form on our servers)
Age and gender, if you provide them during sign-up
Authentication identifiers if you sign in with Apple or Google

2.2 Sleep, energy, and lifestyle data you enter or generate

Bedtime and wake time (manual logs or tracking sessions)
Sleep duration, sleep quality estimates, and related metrics derived in the app
Energy check-ins (for example: energized, okay, drained)
Caffeine intake logs and related settings, if you enable caffeine tracking
App preferences (for example: target sleep hours, reminder settings, alarm preferences)

2.3 Microphone-based sleep tracking (optional)

If you choose microphone or alarm tracking mode, the app uses your device microphone while a tracking session is active. Audio is processed on your device to estimate sleep patterns. We do not upload, store, or sell raw audio recordings on our servers. Derived sleep metrics from a completed session may be saved as part of your sleep log.

2.4 Apple Health and Apple Watch data (optional)

If you grant permission, the app may read and/or write sleep-related data through Apple HealthKit (for example, to display Apple Watch sleep data or sync sleep records). Apple Health data is handled according to Apple’s policies and your device permissions. We access only the Health data types you authorize.

2.5 Device and technical information

Basic device and app information needed to operate the Service (for example, app version, operating system version)
Identifiers needed for authentication and account security
Server logs (for example, IP address, request timestamps, error logs) used for security and reliability

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

Create and manage your account
Provide sleep and energy tracking features
Sync your data when you sign in on a device
Send transactional emails (for example, verification codes and password reset messages)
Send optional reminders and notifications you enable in the app
Maintain, secure, and improve the Service
Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms of Service

4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process personal data on the following bases:

Contract: to provide the Service you request
Consent: for optional features such as microphone access, HealthKit access, and notifications
Legitimate interests: to secure the Service, prevent abuse, and improve reliability, where those interests are not overridden by your rights
Legal obligation: where required by applicable law

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in these situations:

Service providers who help us operate the Service, such as cloud hosting (Render), email delivery (Resend), and authentication providers (Apple, Google), under contractual obligations to protect your data
Legal requirements if we believe disclosure is required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security
Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice where required by law

6. Data retention

We retain your account and log data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain information for legal, security, or backup purposes for a limited time.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access, correct, or delete your personal information
Withdraw consent for optional processing (for example, by revoking microphone or Health permissions in iOS Settings)
Object to or restrict certain processing
Request a copy of your data in a portable format
Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

You can delete individual sleep logs in the app. To delete your account and associated data, contact support@cirrca.app from the email address linked to your account (or use in-app account deletion when available in Settings).

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

10. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our service providers operate. We take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards when data is transferred internationally.

11. Third-party services

The Service may link to or integrate with third-party services (for example, Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, and Apple Health). Their collection and use of information is governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review those policies.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date above. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice in the app or by email where appropriate.
